UNLOCKING YOUR SEED'S POTENTIAL

FROM SEED TO SEEDLING
3 Stages of Seed Germination

1. IMBIBITION- the seed absorbs and intakes water, the life inside the seed is no longer dormant
2. RESPIRATION- resumption of metabolic activity
3. CELL DIVISION- formation of the seedling, life inside the seed has become strong enough to "break out of it's shell", spout, and become a seedling

KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESSFUL GERMINATION
Temperature- 70-80 degrees
Moisture- humidity level 50-70%
Light Exposure- None

Understanding the stages of germination and applying the key factors to the process should be beneficial when it is time for you to wake up your sleeping beauties!

*Soak the seeds overnight in water (approx 8-12 hrs)
-use enough water to cover the seeds
-introducing the seeds to moisture weakens the seeds' coats and triggers hormones that signal cells to start the germination cycle
-do not over soak the seeds, soaking too long could cause oxygen deprivation to the seeds and lead to the seeds to not germinate
*When soaking time is up, remove the seeds and place on a moist paper towel
*Cover the seeds with another moist paper towel
*Put the moisten-covered seeds in the designated location, keeping in mind the key factors: temperature, moisture, and little to no light exposure
*Walk away- this might be one of the most difficult of the steps- walk away and stay away and let mother nature finish what you started the moment you put the seeds in the water for soaking

Allow time for seeds to crack open, sprout, and the seedling to emerge. Remember, you have awakened a dormant life and it is going through it's process to "break out of it's shell" and show itself.
Be patient, this process could take 5-7 days.
After patiently waiting, not counting the 420 times you secretly went to check on them, they have arrived! Germination is over and you have your seedlings!
Now the real fun stuff begins!
